Using digital mapping has its advantages over using pen and paper, as you can update, fix mistakes, save and embed into multiple web pages and could be used in a number of ways in the classroom. Each student could create and design their own digital map that could be saved and shared amongst the class and be able to use peer reviews and use peers expertise to further their own knowledges and improve their designs with much more ease then having to re-write the map out if it was on pen and paper. Concept mapping allows the students to make connections with prior learning through discussions it helps utilize the knowledge and helps retain knowledge for longer periods.
